Orchard Park fall cookout!
Come on out to Orchard Park for a neighborhood picnic. Aaron will bring the burgers, hot dogs, and portobellos for the grill, and we’ll have beverages and rolls. Feel free to contribute a side or dessert if you can…but we’ll have plenty of food for everyone. Catch up with old friends and meet new neighbors!

neighborhood cleanup
Trash accumulates on our streets despite best efforts, so we’ll gather every few months to catch up, coordinating with scheduled street-sweeping passes.

Olla Cov Dia de los Muertos
Westside is lucky to host Covington’s most vibrant, authentic and culturally meaningful festival (with the best food!), thanks to Olla Cov, an anchor for the neighborhood and for the broader community. Come on out to Olla Taqueria Gutierrez, 302 W MLK for a crisp fall evening of music, dancing, and food to memorialize those who have passed on to the other side. Much more at the event page on facebook here; no admission fee…just bring your appetite and your family and friends.
More eloquent words from the event description… “Join us for a vibrant celebration of Día de los Muertos; a time-honored tradition that honors the lives of loved ones who have passed. This rich cultural festival, originating in Mexico and celebrated throughout Latin America, blends indigenous customs with Catholic influences to create a unique event. Far from a somber occasion, Día de los Muertos is a celebration of life, memory, and connection, where families gather to build altars, offer favorite foods of the departed, and share stories, reminding us that death is a part of the human experience.”

Westside housing forum
Join us for an informal discussion of new apartment blocks coming to Westside and city-sponsored initiatives to spur development on vacant lots in the neighborhood. Covington is moving quickly to expand housing stock and dent the affordability crisis, and let’s voice their concerns and share suggestions for the city to consider!

Traffic and street safety forum
Traffic overflows from construction detours are coming to Westside streets soon. Let’s get out in front of this challenge by meeting to discuss concerns and come up with solutions to share with KYTC and city hall. And let’s do it well in advance of traffic snarls and unsafe conditions. Join us at the Center for Great Neighborhods for an informal and open discussion for residents only.
